Allena (Volskay) Yates has a Master of Arts in Biology,
with a thesis on floral morphology and
development in the genus Nicotiana, Section
Alatae. She has been an avid photographer
since starting a photography 4-H project in 1986,
and she learned of the field of science illustration
through a Botanical Illustration course at
Longwood Gardens in 1995.
Mrs. Yates is a member of the East Valley
Artists Association and the California Native Plant
Society.
